Vintage Image Share 4 - Dandy & Girl

Remember a while ago I went to the postcard fair - I still have many to scan but here are to more from what I bought that day. This man looks to me like a real dany.

A dandy (also known as a beau or gallant is a man who places particular importance upon physical appearance, refined language, and leisurely hobbies, pursued with the appearance of nonchalance in a cult of Self. Historically, especially in late 18th- and early 19th-century Britain, a dandy, who was self-made, often strove to imitate an aristocratic lifestyle despite coming from a middle-class background.

Altered Art - Curio On Wheels

The day was made for laziness, and lying on one's back in green places, and staring at the sky till its brightness forced one to shut one's eyes and go to sleep . . .

(source The Old Curiosity Shop by Charles Dickens  - 1841)

My Travel Smash Book

The Smash Book idea is from K & Co, they introduced it in 2011. Unfortunately I have not been able to get my hands on one of their books... so... I made my own version.

ATC booklet

Creating ATC's is a great way to praktice new techniques, I love making them and I started swapping them too. But where do I keep my swaps?

I made this little booklet using the Graphic 45 collection Tropical Travelogue... don't you just loooove the colours (my favourite Turquoise!). The covers are made from chipboard covered with the paper on the outside, for the inside I used embossed and painted cardstock.

The pages/pockets are made with Bazzill Kraft cardstock. The Tropical Travelogue is a beautiful collection and with the Lumiere paint I used to make the inside cover a perfect match.

Materials I used are;
Graphic 45 - Tropical Travelogue 8x8
Lumiere paint - Pearl Turquoise,  Halo Violet-Gold
Tattered Angels - Regal Ornate Frames
Bazzill - Kraft cardstock
7 Gypsies - metal corners
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder 5x7" - Deb Devine

The Stamp Man challenge - Vintage

Vintage is the current challenge at The Stamp Man and this time it is hosted by the stamp(wo)man herself, Jill. My first idea was to create an altered piece using an old photograph of my mother but in the end I decided to do something different.

I created another card using one of my new stampendous stamps, Flying Machines (R139-R). It made me think of Amelia Earhart, a famous female aviation pioneer and author. She was the first female pilot to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean and wrote many books about flying experiences.

On the outside (left) of the card I used some 7 gypsies paper, black and white card stock. I stamped the stampendous background stamp Flying Machines on the white card stock with clear embossing powder and then covered it with Vintage Photo distress ink.

With the image of Amelia (from the internet) I created a sort of passport photo, including 2 eyelets. (This is the way the photo in the old Dutch passport used to be ~smile~). I stamped a compass image from a Tim Holtz Stamp set and added a gear and game spinner on top. On the inside (right) I used part of the 7 Gypsies paper, a piece of copier paper that I edged with vintage photo and the old instrument clocks from the Non-Sequitur set Across The Miles.

Materials I used are;
Stampendous cling - Flying Machines (CRR139-R)
Stampendous Embossing Powder - Clear
Non-Sequitur - Across The Miles (plate 43C)
Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad - Vintage Photo
Tim Holtz Idea-ology - Sprocket Gears & Game Spinners
Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz - Air Travel CMS102
VersaMark - Watermark Ink Pad
Card stock - black
Bazill - kraft Cardstock
7 Gypsies 8x8 paper pad - Global

Birthday cards

March is always a busy month for some reason, we have so many birthdays, work is always busy and the feeling of having a Spring clean is creeping up :)

It's my sisters and friends birthday soon and I actually managed to make some cards. It will be the first that I send them a handmade card.

I just can't get away from the vintage style, I just love it too much.

For the first cad I used 7 Gypsies paper - Avignon on the background matted with black card stock. On the Tim Holtz weathered Clock die I used the Vintage Photo & Walnut Stain Distress Stains, once dry I added versamark ink and clear embossing powder. I think it deepens the colour on the clock much more. I found an image on the internet and added it to the card with dimesional double sided tape. I used a brad in the shape of a screw... I forgot where I bought this, must have had it for ages.

For the second card I used some left over 7 Gypsies papers to collage a background. I edged it with Vintage Photo Distress Ink (my absolute favourite!). With a spellbinders die I cut out a scalloped oval in black cardstock and on top an image I found on the web. I completed the card with some old lace and buttons.

The most important of all is that I had some fun and relaxing time while crafting... it's perfect therapy!

Materials I used are;
Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad - Vintage Photo
Tim Holtz Distress Stain - Vintage Photo & Walnut Stain
Versamark clear embossing ink pad
Stampendous clear embossing ink
Sizzix Bigz Die - Tim Holtz Weathered Clock
Card stock - black, kraft
7 Gypsies 6x6 paper pad - Avignon
Spellbinders Nestabilities - Petite Scalloped Ovals Large (S4-139), Petite Ovals Large (S4-138)
Recycled: Lace & Buttons

Vintage Image Share 2 - Flapper Lady & Gent

It is not often that my husband and I go out together... usually one of us is working when the other is free. It was a real treat today on the postcard fair snooping around in boxes filled with vintage yumminess :) I found lots to play with and it will take me a while to sort it all out ... but... I was able to scan some of them. So watch this space, more will follow!

We all have our hobbies and as it happens my husband collects postcards :) He invited me to go with him to a postcard fair. The exciting bit is that they also have tons of vintage photo's and ephemera. I hope I will find something nice that I can share with you too.

Talking about vintage images, Leaping Frog, a great place to find vintage images, is holding a give-away, go and check it out!
