The Stamp Man Challenge - Shabby Chic or Distressed

Once again there is a great challenge at The Stamp Man Challenges, this time it is Shabby Chic or Distressed.

For my card I used a wonderful stamp set from Artemio, don't you just love the butterfly! I used Versamark Watermark to create a resist technique with the postcard stamp and coloured the background using various Tim Holtz distress Inks.

For the butterfly I did something different. I coloured a piece of Calico fabric using the same Tim Holtz Distress Inks, stamped the butterfly on top using Stazon Ink and then cut the butterfly out. Before I added it to the card I attached a piece of adhesive foil tape on the back, that way I can bend it any way I want and make the butterfly more dimensional. For embellishments I punched out some daisy flowers and leaves and added some bling. The text I created on my computer.

Materials I used are;
Artemio Clear Stamp Set - Butterfly Collage
Stampendous Embossing Powder - Clear
Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad - Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Fired Brick, Vintage Photo

How many UFO's do you have?

Yes, I have a confession to make... I am a slow crafter and I have many Un - Finished Objects lying around. My mind is filled with idea's and I can't find enough time to finish my projects quickly.... I always have something on the go. But sometimes... I have more than one on the go... well here they are;

Which one I finish first depends on my mood.... here's my Work In Progress...

  1. Recycled wooden display trays - altered, painted and covered with Bo Bunny Etcetera papers...
  2. Altoid Tin, painted with gesso and off white acrylic...
  3. Papier Mache Oval Box - covered with Kaiserkraft Sweet Nothings Papers and Modpodge...
  4. Recycled Music Box, added a layer of gesso...
  5. Wooden Picture Frame - painted, crackled and embellished with metal corners...
  6. Papier Mache Rectangle Box, covered with black gesso...

Wishing you all a crafty weekend!

In love

Today I was in a Graphic 45 mood and created this card, the paper is from The Steampunk Debutante collection... one of my favourites. It always makes me happy to work with Graphic 45!

Now for the embellishments I cut out a heart, embossed it and added crackle paint (Rock Candy),  I love the effect of the crackle. Last but not least some trim and bling to finish.

Recycled Altered Glass Jar

Now this is a technique I love doing.

First I cleaned and dried the glass jar thoroughley, it needs to be absolutely greace free. You can either paint on the jar directly with acrylic paint or cover it first as I did. Using pieces of masking tape I covered my jar completely, making sure I go criss cross with little pieces of tape to create a nice texture.

Before

I then painted over it with Lumiere paint and let it dry overnight, I made sure that I can still use the jar and covered the lid only with paint.

To decorate the jar I cut out 4 squares (to cover all four sides of the jar) with my spellbinders using chipboard because you need a strong surface for the Faux Cloisonne technique. You can find a tutorial of this technique here. I used black utee to create the 3 layers and perfect pearls and moonglow to colour the black layer. With the dragonfly stamp - using the Brilliance Galaxy Gold I stamped in the utee after I re-heated it. The perfect pearl colours mix beautifully with the utee and the Galaxy Gold, I love the effect of this technique.
